Reiki Principle Number 5 - Just for Today I will Love Every Living Being.

5/17/2015

Love is an emotion that makes us feel happy; especially when we feel loved but what about being able to love everyone else and everything that we encounter? It may seem like a difficult task yet it is possible.

There are many categories for love. We call these categories fraternal love, courtship love, friendship love, and so on. In any of these categories we may mistake love with other kinds of feelings. For instance, it may feel sometimes that jealousy may be needed in order to feel that we care. When love is mistaken by dependency to a physical form or belief, we may find ourselves in relationships that use manipulating measures to keep each other close by. We see all kinds of manipulation in religion, politics, even from our parents and partners. So it is quite possible to find ourselves now and then mistaking love with fear and/or obedience.

Real love is to honour each other’s presence and the life consciousness within each being, recognizing their life form and seeing them as equally valuable as ourselves, being aware that others are ultimately ourselves. When we identify others as the universal source that is the same essence within us, we honor them and so we love.
Life consciousness can be sensed in every form: human beings, animals, plants even objects. The difficult part is when we identify ourselves completely with the physical form. We may measure love through such things perceived as physical appearance, monetary success, social status, history, knowledge and so on. The more we ignore the life consciousness in each form, the more we reduce and limit our self-worth.
Just for today, I will honour the presence and the life consciousness that is you and is me.

Reiki Principle Number 4 - Just for Today I will Live a Life Filled with Gratitude.

5/17/2015

The art of gratitude starts by recognizing everything that we have which may include material possessions, health, support from love ones and memories. Some of us are even grateful for blessings already on the way acknowledging and trusting the unknown circumstances that will continue to shape our lives and ourselves.

It is each of us who understands their place in the world. No matter how much someone expresses their pain or happiness no one else will truly understand it. We own the path that is to be lived by each of us and no matter what has happened or what our present situation is like it is only each of us strong and capable of experiencing our situation.  When we see and express challenges in our daily life in a negative way, we bring awareness of everything that goes wrong and others eventually learn to see us as unhappy. As we fall into the tendency of complaining, we feel tired much easier because the heaviness of our problems increases when we pay our undivided attention to them. By considering the goods that challenge bring into our experience we learn to appreciate our personality. With the word appreciation what I mean is that we add more to what we are and so we benefit the world with our enhanced talents and skills.

The fourth Reiki principle teaches to be grateful for what life brings and that includes challenge because it is through challenge that we shape our identity.

Let’s take the game Monopoly or the Game of life as an example. Would this game be fun if you start the game with all the money and the success? What would be the point of playing the game? It is by losing and winning that the game becomes exciting and that is the reason why one will decide to play the game.

Winning gives you satisfaction and losing gives you experience and that is what makes one prosperous.  Life offers you everything you need to be successful in your individual path.

One can practice the act of gratitude by witnessing the present moment and say ‘for the next hour I will look at the good in everything I encounter even if it is just a little detail’ You may meet someone whom feels unpleasant to you but you may focus your awareness on something nice about them like their voice, their writing their clothing.

As you practice gratitude the energy that forms with every meeting will be different until one day you will be able to recognize worth in everyone’s presence. Little by little you can extend the time to witness the present moment to two hours and so forth. As you get used to be grateful you will experience life at ease not because you don’t come across challenge but because you look at it with gratitude and learn to have fun with it.

Reiki Principle Number 3 - Just for Today I will do my Work Honestly.

5/17/2015

At some point in life we may find ourselves holding a job that is not the right fit for us but there is a reason why we are there.

It may be because it is what we have been able to access so far, we have bills to pay or the hours are convenient. Whatever the case, be aware that this job in which you may feel unhappy is so far providing you with a step towards your real passion. Be grateful for it and be your best. The better you do at your present job the faster you will be introduced to new opportunities. Open doors will be everywhere and there will be a point where you will have the privilege to choose what you want to do with your time and how you want to receive income.  Gratitude and appreciation for what you have and can do for others are key to manifest the career you want and deserve.

In the meantime, write down the things that you like to do, what inspires you. What would you like to learn? Where would you like to see yourself being in the next 2, 5 or 10 years?  Divide your big dream into small steps and start with what is easy and achievable at the moment.  Look at people who are already in this career and research their work and experience. →

Become a fan of your dream, visualize and imagine yourself there. Remember that Imagination is the playground for creation.  Small steps may include volunteering some hours in what could become your future occupation, preparing or updating your resume and applying to new projects.  Be Positive and focus on the opportunities that each challenge brings you. When failing you may take a different approach but don’t quit because success comes from failure. One step at a time is ok.

What does Reiki mean?

5/8/2015

Picture
The characters that form the symbol that we know as Reiki come from the Japanese language which uses pictograms.
Pictogram also known as pictograph or simply as picto is an ideogram that conveys its meaning through its pictorial resemblance to a physical object. Pictography is a form of writing that uses pictorial drawings. We are familiar with ancient pictograms like those showcased from ancient times  or modern pictograms like those we see on the road as pictures of an airplane by the airport, bathroom signs and so on.

According to Wikipedia Reiki usually means ‘mysterious atmosphere; miraculous sign’ however have in mind that Wikipedia content changes and evolves like everything else, everything!

To the best of past Reiki Masters research the Japanese characters that compounds the symbol of Reiki have been translated as two stems forming the word ‘Reiki’

In modern times Japanese Reiki is 'written', as the picto in the picture above, in Kanji and it compounds the word that we know as Reiki.  Rei meaning spirit, miraculous, divine and Ki meaning vital energy, breath of life, consciousness. Ki is apparently the same Qi as in Qi Gong or the Chi energy that your hear from your acupuncturist Qi and Chi are frequently translated as natural energy, life force or energy flow however the literal translation appears to be breath, air or gas.→

Most Reiki Masters & Reiki Master Teachers explain the meaning of Reiki as Universal Life Force Energy, Reiki Master Teacher Hawayo Takata who conveyed Reiki Teachings to the Western Culture used to explain Reiki as God’s Power and once again who can explain God.
Fortunately Reiki practitioners do not need to understand Reiki completely in order to use it and deliver it.  However; it feels nice to have some knowledge.

Personally my favorite part of Reiki is that even though is not well supported with scientific research, Reiki practitioners feel Reiki flowing through them when giving or receiving Reiki. Reiki Masters claim that the student do not find Reiki instead Reiki finds the student .

What are the Reiki Principles and Reiki Principle Number 1- I will not Anger

5/8/2015

Reiki treatments help us release stress so that the body can use its own resources to heal and become more balanced. The Reiki principles are the key to invite happiness in every aspect of life. In other words, by taking Reiki treatments you release stress and by following the Reiki principles you avoid  stress and therefore avoid diseases.  So here are the five Reiki principles:

Just for today, I will not anger.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will live the attitude of gratitude.
Just for today, I will love every living being.

Now, that we know the 5 Reiki principles let us take a closer look to each of them, starting today with the first principle but first of all, it is important to remember as well, the beginning of each statement...Just for today!
Each Reiki principle is to be taken in the present moment. Reiki practitioners and those who adopt the Reiki principles decide to take one day at a time so there is not pressure to say for now on, or for the rest of my life. It is simply today the real time where we put these principles into practice.  Tomorrow and yesterday are not today so we can leave them aside.  Now before I start explaining the first  Reiki principle have in mind that if you adopt this principles this commitment is not with me, no with , religion, government or society but with yourself  because it is yourself who will benefit 100% from this practice.   →
Principle number 1 – Just for today, I will not anger
Anger can approach us during specific times in our life experience and it does through the building of negative thinking. Sometimes we are not aware of our thought process but as we feel a negative buildup of energy in our chest we can remember this principle and take control of the moment. We can remain in control by leaving the room for few minutes and examine the root cause of this anger.  Is this towards what have been said, or the person who said it? Is it due to fear that we don’t want to admit or perhaps a past experience that is imprinted in our memory? If we cannot leave the room, we can ask to take a moment to think about the issue.  Whatever be the technique that we choose to release anger we can ensure to avoid saying anything or acting from anger. Remember that what we say or do in anger cannot been taken back even if we apologize.  Silence is a good friend to avoid arguments until we are ready to treat the situation with a grounded presence. Are you ready to leave anger out of your life experience?

Reiki Principle Number 2 - Just for Today I will not Worry

5/8/2015

Worry is a feeling that pre-occupies the mind meaning that we are focusing on a time that does not exist. We may be feeling worried about something that has happened in the past or may happen in the future, therefore worry only takes our present time away.

Negative thoughts that cause feelings of worry usually start with: I am not good, I don’t have, I can’t, I don’t know and what if. Thoughts like these push us down discouraging our further steps on the way to our dreams or goals.  To adopt the ‘I will not worry principle’ we can ignore negative thoughts and keep occupied in our present tasks even if we are working in what seems a  difficult goal. One step at a time is ok, we will get there eventually!

A good exercise to avoid feeling worry is to treat worry as a client and set up an appointment to worry. We can schedule 5 – 10 minutes at a specific time during our precious day and when that time comes we can sit down and worry.  →

This exercise may help us find out solutions to our fear or help us realize that worry only takes time from our daily activities.   In time we can ditch worry and replace it with meditation.

By remembering this principle we take care of things that are priority at the moment in order to manifest the outcomes that we want to achieve in life.  When we release worry, our day becomes peaceful and productive.   Don’t worry, be happy and treasure the present moment.

What is Reiki?

5/7/2015

Reiki is a spiritual practice, a light non-invasive touch and a relaxation technique that releases stress to allow general wellness to take its place. Now let us talk about each of these components.
Spiritual Practice:
Spirituality is the study of the self. By practicing Reiki daily, Reiki Practitioners find or bring back memories of the experiences they want to attract to their lives. The goals and experiences that are interesting to us are imprinted within ourselves from an early age.  As we grow up these are mostly forgotten as we replace them with worries and fears caused by chores, rules and structure. Reiki practitioners find their call or true purpose in the world which in the long run benefits everyone. By taking care of ourselves we take care of each other and we take care of the world.
Non- Invasive Touch:
Reiki is provided by placing hands on or above the body through different body points including the 7 main chakras. In a Reiki session, Reiki recipients, meaning those who receive the treatment, do not ingest or apply any kind of product to the body neither receive any diagnosis or prescribed substance from their Reiki practitioners, those who provide the treatment. Reiki Recipients experience relaxation through a natural technique in its pure form. Some practitioners may use additional treatment aids if it benefits the client experience like Crystals or Essential oils among others. Having in count that these additional aids may be of some benefit to a Reiki recipient they are not required or imposed in a Reiki session. Reiki compliments any health therapy and is very versatile.
Stress Reductive:
When receiving a Reiki treatment, Reiki recipients relax within the first minutes of treatment, allowing the body to utilize its own natural resources to heal itself. Reiki help us remove that which blocks the healing process; Stress.
