How to Prepare to Receive Distant Reiki.

11/1/2016

Before I mention the preparations for your Distance Reiki Session, let me confess that I enjoy sending Reiki to recipients as much as you enjoy receiving it and I am always looking forward sending Reiki Energy to anyone interested.

First of all, we will both agree on a time when you and I will be available to connect through Reiki. It will be most likely an hour or two prior to your normal time for bed.  I advice not to have your TV turned on or your phone on hand (literally) as these might distract you from sensing Reiki energy. Having said that, you will still receive the energy of Reiki even if you choose to watch TV or interact with your phone. Ideally, I would rather if you choose to read a book or simply lay down and focus on your breathing if your main interest is to sense the flow of Reiki.
Picture
15 minutes prior to the session I will text you to let you know that your session is about to start. This will give you a little bit of time to prepare for bed. As I send Reiki to you it may be very likely that you fall sleep within the first 20 minutes, you may wake up and hour later or may continue your night sleep as usual. For that reason, I won't contact you the same night but instead will either call you the following day or send you an e-mail to talk about the session and provide any feedback sensed during the session. Distance Reiki can be sent to balance physical well-being and also any type of event that you may have in the future such as exams, job interviews, dates etc., as well as events that have happened in the past from which you want to release negative energy.  To book a Distance Reiki Session please leave your contact info in the form below and tentative dates and times in which you would like to receive your session. I will contact you to confirm your Distance Reiki appointment.

You may or may not know that every time I post a video on my Facebook Page Reikisimo you have a chance to win a Distance Reiki Session but you may be wondering the following:

How does it work?
When you ‘like’ any of my posts on my Facebook page, Reikisimo, you increase the chances of winning a Distance Reiki session.

I like everything you post but never get chosen for a Distance Reiki session.
Did you like my Facebook page yet? You may have hit the like to posts on my Facebook page but you may have not hit the Like on the actual page which makes it difficult to tag your name and so you may have been chosen but may not be aware of it.  Check all the previous videos on my Facebook page wall as I might have written your name but you may not be aware because the tag on your name doesn’t work. That is why it is important that you Like my page.
Picture
I was chosen once before and I hit the like button on your winner announcement but never got to know anything about my Reiki Session, how do I know if I got Reiki from you?  If you did not contact me to schedule your session, you have not received Reiki from me. Reiki is not to be given, Reiki is to be received and if there was not enough interest from you then there was not Distance Reiki sent to you neither.

I just realized that I won a Reiki session months ago, can I still claim it? Ask and it is given.

How should I prepare to receive a Distance Reiki Session from you? You can see the preps for a Distance Reiki Session on the link right here.

If you have any other questions about winning and claiming a Distance Reiki Session please add your question in the comment section below and I will add it to the list, Namaste.

Preparation to Receive a Reiki Session. (In-Person)

The greatest feature of Reiki is its simplicity however there is couple of tips that will make your first experience more enjoyable.
  • Ask your Reiki practitioner if they use any kind of aromas during the treatment. It may be essential oils, incense or any other kind of scents. If you are allergic to this kind of products let your Reiki practitioner know so that no scents are used during your Reiki session. If you enjoy scents, ask if they have your favorite aroma to be used before hand so that the room has some of this scent in the atmosphere when you arrive.
Picture
  • If possible, take a shower before your session. It will help you release stress and remove any scents from lotions and perfumes that may be distracting to the senses.
  • Use deodorant but avoid fragrances. Your sense of smell will open up through the treatment as you will be breathing deeply in and out as it is meant to happen naturally. Because you are relaxing you will be more aware of all your senses and strong fragrances may become distracting.
  • Preferably wear loose and comfortable clothing. If your clothes are to tight they may restrict your circulation, loose clothing is best.
  • Empty your pockets. You don't want to feel your car keys pocking your leg or change falling on the floor. Some jewelry can get in the way and may be uncomfortable. It is better if you avoid bringing wrist watches, bracelets and necklaces. Place all your personal belongings in your bag before the session starts.
  • Be prepare to take your shoes off. Reiki rooms are sacred spaces and are worth all the respect. Just like when you go to a yoga class or a massage therapy, your shoes should be left outside the room.
  • If you are not feeling at ease with something, please say so. Even if you are half way through the treatment; It is OK to interrupt the session if necessary. Some examples are music being too loud or not loud enough, lights being to bright, temperature being too cold or too hot or any noises that may be annoying. For example, the sound of a water fountain may be relaxing for some and annoying to others. Make sure to let your practitioner know about your preferences, they want you to feel comfortable.
  • You don't have to tell your Reiki practitioner about your health issues. They work with their intuition and Reiki will flow wherever it is needed including the areas that you may not be aware of. If you want to release information it is ok but not necessary.
  • Have an open mind, relax and focus on your breathing. As you feel relaxed your body will find ways to communicate through thoughts, visions or feelings that you experience. Have fun with this and be patient. If you fall sleep is even better your body is completely relaxed and so it is healing.
I wish you find the tips above helpful and that you are ready to take your journey with Reiki. Enjoy your Reiki session!

Appreciating Reiki Time and Services.

Many Reiki practitioners find it very difficult to charge for Reiki treatments mostly at the beginning of our practice. We know that Reiki is given to anyone willing to receive it but we still need to remember that we are offering our time, guidance and services.

Money is an exchange of energy and it is good for everyone somehow some of us have been brainwashed into thinking otherwise.
Picture
Like those who say, “I rather being poor but healthy” when they could say “I rather being rich and healthy”. Do you find the negative impression about money familiar? If so, there is something deep within you that makes you feel bad about money. You need to be honest with yourself, come to peace with whatever causes you to think negativity about money and fix the issue.

I had issues with money too, I could give and give but could not receive as easily.
I grew up in a culture in which we offer our time freely and it feels wrong to charge for it. People say ‘Gracias’ (Thank you) to what we respond ‘De nada’ (that was nothing) So we are continuously helping out and feeling it is not a big deal. I learned in time that I come from a ‘WE’ culture a place where we live as group not as individuals. Families live together even after they have married and so the family keeps on growing as well as the time that you invest helping out those who live with you. When I came to Canada it was hard for me to be that ‘I’ who will have to decide what to do with my time. I also had the mentality that only those who were in a terrible situation were meant to receive money as a “gift”, having in mind that I was used to give my time and services freely. so I felt uncomfortable with those offering money to me for my time and service. Very often it was someone else that could benefit from money before me and that made me a very generous person, who was constantly broke.

Money can come to you in many ways; wages, tips, gifts and/or exchange of services. I was OK with wages because this money is deposited directly into the bank account and there is not personal contact with the finance department. On the other hand, I felt differently about cash, tips and gifts.
Back home at my teenage years it was the norm that people would buy you gifts like a shirt, flowers, toys, perfumes, etc., Money as cash was something I never saw as a gift. In my mind, money given to someone without a material good in exchange would be considered charity and for only those who were in a rut.

One day, my uncle who had travelled through out North America, came to my birthday reunion and handled me an envelope. I was excited to open it; I thought it would be concert tickets or a birthday card. I was shocked when I saw a $20 bill and I did not know what to say, my face only reflected one question... Why? I went to talk to my mother and I said… “My uncle may have mistaken my situation; he probably thought I needed money”. My mother told me to let it go and to be thankful for my uncle’s gift; it was not a big deal. Later on, after living in Canada for almost a year I was attending mass with my godparents. My godfather brought me an envelope and I already knew what was inside after the experience with my uncle many years ago and again I felt terrible. I left my chair, went to the charity box at the entrance of the church and donated all the money. The couple taking care of the charity box seemed quite happy. A couple of friends who knew my godfather saw what I did and gave me a big lecture about doing that.

It was only until I started working at a hotel that my view of receiving money started to change. I was working at the front desk as a clerk. Sometimes guests would hand me a tip and I would say “Oh no, that’s ok, it is my job, you don’t have to tip me” Guest would look at me all puzzled, some will just leave the tip on the desk and some would just take it back. One day, I saw my co-worker receiving tips which looked so natural to him and both guest and clerk seemed quite grateful. I had to ask him how he could do that. He said “all you do is look at your guest with confidence and say: Thanks, I appreciate it”. Well, that was easy! I knew I deserved it and I wanted to be able to receive money; it sure would help me pay the bills. That same day I took the risk, next time a guest handed me a tip I did what my co-worker said. It felt so odd at the beginning but my guest smiled and made me feel that he was happy with my service. It felt so good and best of all, I finally passed my first step to receiving money; phew, a vast weight was gone from my shoulders.

Later in time, through meditation studies, I remembered that appreciation in mathematics means “add more to it” and so the word appreciation became like a powerful word to me.  Since that day, I appreciate the things, services and lessons that come my way. When I became a Reiki Practitioner I understood the value of one’s time. Since it was not proper to charge money while in Level I, I exchanged services. For instance, a client will offer to pet sit my dog on a weekend, or a carpenter would offer to build me a wood box, a hairdresser will give me a hairstyle, etc.  I suggest the same to my level I students, it is a great exercise to get familiar with the concept of giving and receiving. If you do not charge anything at all, you will create an imbalance, people will feel guilty about asking you for a future treatment and that feeling doesn’t really help them. What really helps is for them to feel that they can book future appointments and release stress so that they can let the body use its own resources to heal.

My dog gets plenty of Reiki because he gives me unconditional love and my plants get Reiki too in exchange of them thriving and offering beautiful flowers, we all give you see!!

If you have a hard time receiving money just remember that the money you receive will help your massage therapist, the bakery, the grocery store, the student who cleans your back yard, etc., In other words, embrace money and let it flow we all benefit from it.

Interview to Reiki Master Teacher Anjna Brahmbhatt

5/23/2016

I still remember the day when I was drawn to learn Reiki. I was in Kindersley SK, in 2010 during my summer holidays. I was talking with my good friend Insouk about my desire to teach something that would be beneficial to myself and others in a spiritual level.
Somehow, I was thinking of teaching meditation but I was struggling with the thought of, how can I help others to meditate when meditation is such a personal practice? I was already enjoying the benefits of meditation for many years but this was something I always did on my own.

“Why don’t you learn Reiki?” Insouk said. “Reiki?” I asked without a clue.

I have to confess; I was a little bit embarrassed not to know or have even heard about Reiki before. “What is Reiki?” I asked.“It has to do with moving energies or something like that”, Insouk explained, “you may like that” She said. I was already very interested in the Chi or Qi energy which is discussed in Feng Shui and Acupuncture but I was not familiar with the Japanese term Ki. Well, it happens to be the same energy only called slightly different by other modalities.

Insouk and I had a wonderful breakfast and as I was sipping my coffee, I took part of the newspaper and opened it up to read the community news. Something in there took my eyes straight to it. A small classified on top of the page about Reiki Classes. A hot/cold shiver covered me from top to toe. “Oh yes! That’s what I was talking about”. Insouk said. “You should look into it”.

Maybe you have experienced this before or not but the feeling I got was a straight sign that Reiki was something I should look forward.

I came back to Medicine Hat, where I lived and Google searched Reiki Classes in Alberta.

There was a Reiki Master travelling to teach somewhere in Alberta but even though the drive was not too far I did not feel connected with this teacher so I decided to keep on looking. I found a very old ad in Kijiji about Reiki services and classes. I grabbed the phone and dialed the Number. A lady with an East Indian accent answered the phone.

‘Hello?’ “Yes, I am calling to enquire about your Reiki classes” I said excited. For a moment I only heard silence on the other side of the telephone. “Yes, I teach Reiki but I am not offering classes at this moment” She said.
“ Oh no, you have to teach me”, I insisted. “It is only now that I have time off and I really want to learn Reiki” I heard the silence again. I had this strong feeling about this teacher and I wanted to learn with her even though I had not read her website or any other advertising like pamphlets or such; I was simply following my instinct “Let me make couples of phone calls to see if there are any more tentative students interested for a class and I will call you back” She said. “Thank You!!” I answered.

I jumped up and down like I was certain that I was getting in this class.

It felt like it was an exciting new adventure but this adventure was to stay with me always. I took Level I with Anjna Brahmbhatt and my classmate’s name was Bryan. We took 2 levels together and I really enjoyed both my Reiki Master and my classmate’s input as we were learning and discussing Reiki. After my first two classes I continue to higher levels IIIART & IIIB, one on one with Anjna. It was on the first day in level 1 when I knew deep in my heart that I wanted to ‘Be’ a Reiki Master.

I visited my Reiki Master at her new place of residence in Calgary in 2013 and had a great time sharing Reiki stories and eating Anjna’s snacks which by the way, are delicious! Since I enjoy sharing my story with students on how Reiki found me, I was delighted when Anjna agreed to share her story with all my students and friends and here it is!

Many Reiki Masters including yourself have said that the student doesn’t find Reiki; instead, Reiki finds the student. How did Reiki find you?
In India I was attending a Yoga class known as Siddha Samadhi Yoga. At one of these classes, I observed that a woman was receiving Reiki from one of the teachers. Sometime later I was very sick from a fever and one of my yoga students offered me Reiki. I got very curious about Reiki and asked her more about it, I was then referred to a Reiki Teacher and I decide it to take the classes when I knew that Reiki had healing properties.

How do you define Reiki?
To me Reiki is defined in one word, ‘Grace’ it is a personal feeling that raises your self-steam and guides you to the right direction and true path in life.
How long have you been practicing Reiki?
I have practiced Reiki since Nov 1996 so now for 17 years and I started teaching in 1998. (This interview took place in 2013)
What is in your opinion the best Reiki Feature?
I like two features: You can help yourself and others and also whenever and wherever 24-7 at any time. In other words, if you can breathe you can practice Reiki (humorously)
What would you tell us about the rewards of teaching Reiki?
It is a hard question because there are many of them. One is a great deal of satisfaction that you are spreading wellness in the community for others just like lighting one candle with another candle.
What kind of sensations do you perceive while offering a Reiki Session/Class?
Physical sensations in the crown chakra and other sensations like pulsations, heat and a soft current of the Ki energy through the hands and the body.
How has Reiki transformed your life?
It has been a slow and steady progress. I can look back and see myself in past years and then see my present self and realize how much I have changed for the better. I had little patience and was easy to get irritated for little things but Reiki guided me through a number of events that showed me the path through where I recognized the things that bring real peace and contentment.
In your opinion, what will be a time recommended to practice Reiki?
Anytime is good, preferable if you can take a moment to be alone with yourself and away from distractions.
How do you deal with criticism and negativity from skeptics?
I honour everybody’s way of thinking and let them choose what is good for them. Sometimes even for skeptics, if they are going with intelligence and open to try Reiki, I would like them to experience it first rather than talk to them about it so they can feel for themselves. Reiki is not to be imposed on anyone. Who so ever experiences Reiki in its purest form will get benefit from it and start believe in Reiki.
What signs of improvement do you see in people as you provide a Reiki Session?
Breathing gets smooth, tension from their faces goes away. They relax and feel energized at the same time. 90% of recipients will fall asleep during first half an hour of treatment.
Some people don’t believe in Reiki when they don’t see a sudden miracle. What do you tell them?
I tell them is not a magic wand that you use, healing is a process and if you have suffered from an illness for many years, it is normal that healing takes some time. Miracles do happen, the more open you are to receive Reiki, the more you will benefit from it.
And to conclude this interview for today, have you experience an “aha” moment with Reiki lately.
For me there are not more aha moments with Reiki because there is an assurance within me that wonderful healing happens. So, whenever something great happens, I have already trusted. My conviction is enriched & maintained. I feel joyous and get filled with gratitude. The more results I get, the humbler I feel. As a normal family life leading person, just with a Reiki prayer and laying my hands on someone, if I can heal; It is certainly grace showered upon be a gift for me from universe~ End.

So, there you have it, just a glimpse of the conversation I had with Anjna about Reiki. Finally, I want to say Thank You for all of your continuous support by reading my blog and newsletters. I also feel very grateful with Anjna for sharing this conversation with all of us. I am also grateful to Anjna’s husband Prakash who has a wonderful energy of peace and love. They both have inspired my partner and me with their loving presence.
Namaste,
