Most Frequent Questions made by Level II Practitioners
Q:When practicing for 21 days, am I to do all 24 points for every day?or do I treat 3 points every day for 21 days?
If you practice the 24 points including the three symbols at each point this will be fabulous. If for a very strange reason you can't practice the 24th points, at least two points are required daily.
It makes it easy when you go to bed and bring Reiki in to work on your heart and tummy as you will likely fall sleep while you provide Reiki to yourself. Have in mind that you can now send Reiki to the past which means that if you skip a day and want to make it up you can send Reiki to the day before. It is really amazing the benefits that Level II gives you, isn't it? :) Most important is that you don't skip a day of practice.
Also, now that you got the symbols, write them on the air or any surface you want 'go nuts' I write them on the palms of my hands as I get up so that everything I do during the day is being nurture with Reiki, draw them before you cook, draw them on the water as you have a bath. The sky is the limit! you have them, use them.
Q:Is it necessary to follow the 24 points learned in Reiki Level I when giving out a session?
It is not necessary because Reiki will flow to whenever is needed; however, the technique was created so that Reiki practitioners could have a practice. An easy structure to facilitate charges for the time you spend offering a Reiki session.
Q:How much should I charge for a full body and half body session?
I would recommend that you first finish your 21 day practice before you book any client so that you have time enough to gain experience using all the symbols. Fees in level II are approximately between $40 for 45min (half body session) and $60 for 75min (full session) To make sure that you are charging fair I would contact a level II practitioner from your same lineage who is already taking clients and charge according to their fees. It is ok to charge a little bit more or same fee but not less. Remember to value your time! By keeping your fees similar or same, but not less, you show respect for your time and other practitioners. Check the Reiki Directory to see a list of practitioners whom you can ask about their fees. Check with other practitioners who are in same level and follow same lineage to see how much they are charging. Ask about their lineage in order to charge fair fees according to their time of training.
Q:Do I draw the three symbols for each point during a session with client?
During your practice use the 3 symbols at each point and when treating clients start with the three symbols at the beginning of the session (the bridge symbol, the mental symbol, and the power symbol) and as you continue with the second point, from that point just used the mental and power symbol.
Q:How can I explain Reiki to mainstream clients?
The meaning of Reiki in Japanese is ‘Universal Life Force Energy’ which is a meaning that makes sense to energy healers and people involved in holistic and natural healing but it is not really clear to mainstream clients. When you are explaining what Reiki is, it will be more understandable for everyone to describe the technique itself. ‘Reiki is a light non-invasive touch, stress reductive and relaxation technique that promotes wellness. It is 100% natural and safe. Reiki complements any medical or alternative medicine treatment. With Reiki only hands are required, it is an ancient treatment, most effective in helping the body to relax and heal from within’.
Q:What does non-invasive means?
Recipients are not diagnosed with any condition and do not receive prescribed substances from their Reiki practitioners. Recipients don’t ingest any kind of substance. Some Reiki practitioners may use essential oils as a fragrance to enhance the treatment but it is not necessary and will vary depending on the client’s preference. Reiki does not introduce any invasive product to the body.
Q:Why would I want to explain Reiki differently from its original meaning to mainstream clients?
When someone asks you, what is Reiki? By describing the technique itself instead of the meaning of the word Reiki, you will make the practice relevant to a broader audience. Mainstream clients will appreciate an explanation that they can understand which will easy their resistance to try Reiki. Think of your client as if you were talking to a doctor, if you satisfy the doctor concerns you satisfy everyone’s concern. One of the most important things to mention is that Reiki increases comfort in the first minutes of treatment. When someone is in pain or feeling uneasy, comfort comes in handy. When recipients ask what is the meaning of the word Reiki itself, by all means let them know that the Japanese meaning of the symbol itself is Universal Life Force Energy.
Q:What if my client wants to know if Reiki is safe?
The Reiki technique itself is the safest I have ever encountered as it does not need any substances or tools really other than the practitioner’s hands which can be placed above the body without even touching the recipient. So, it is really 100% safe. What we need to have in mind to make the treatment experience safer is to take care of logistics. Below are few examples:
'E.g Don’t practice Reiki on someone who just broke their arm and has not gone to the doctor'. Make sure that the recipient understands that Reiki is a complimentary method for relaxation that helps the body to heal itself but they need to check with a professional physician first when they are dealing with a body ailment or disease.
Check on the instruction on your massage table to make sure that it will support your client's body safely. If you got a client that is heavier than what the massage table can handle, it is better to provide the treatment on the floor by placing blankets and pillows on the floor.
If you are treating children, let the parent be present in the Reiki Session so they can feel better about the treatment. They can read a magazine or a book about Reiki while you work.
If a client has a disability that includes moving issues check if it is possible to provide the treatment at their home.
Q:What standards do you recommend for me to follow as I start my Reiki Practice?
Get out from Reiki’s way by remembering that you are not the energy that flows through the recipient; Reiki is. When we are having thoughts of judgment either towards ourselves or clients, we are not safe for our client. Leave your ego aside when you start the treatment and be assured that you are doing the best you can. Reiki is an intelligent energy that knows where to go in the recipient’s body. You can practice these affirmations as you practice self-treatment with Reiki and prior to offering a Reiki Session. Daily self-treatment is essential to build a strong confidence.
- I am a confident and successful Reiki practitioner
- I am ready
Practice daily reminders of the Reiki Principles
Just for today, I will not anger
Just for today, I will not worry
Just for today, I will do my work honestly
Just for today, I live the attitude of gratitude
Just for today, I will love every living being
Make some rules: Let your clients know about your cancellations policy. They should let you know about a cancellation 48 hours prior to their appointment. Value your time! when you respect yourself, others do too.
If you have a client who is releasing through negative emotion redirect their thinking with positive stories or by being silent. I had a client who started taking really negative towards his father and brother as he was releasing emotions of jealousy. I then ask him to tell me about the games he used to play with his brother when they were children. He right away started finding pleasant memories of his brother and slowly calmed down until he finally fall sleep. After the session he had more appreciation for his present moment.
Q:Why should Reiki be used as a complementary therapy to medicine?
Medicine has the potential to help and harm. Reiki practice is balancing holistic approach that causes no harm. Reiki will help recipients to become more balanced when taking medicine that may be causing side-effects; it will also support the healing process from the root cause.
Q:How can clients be aware of the benefits of Reiki treatments?
When you start a Reiki session within the first minutes of treatment the recipient will feel relaxed, their breath deeps easily as it becomes normal to its natural rhythm. Anxiety slows down and the body starts using it self-healing mechanism.
Q:I am taking clients from home. Do the clients have to chant the "ohm's" with me or is it okay if I just chant them?
You don't have to ask them to chant the OM with you and you also don't have to chant it in front of them. You can chant the OM in your Reiki room previous to your client's arrival and after they leave so that you clean the room prior and post to the session. You can also clean the room with Reiki by drawing Hon Sha Ze Sho Nen and Sei He KI once on the air and Cho Ku Rei once on each wall of the room including the ceiling and floor. (you don't have to touch the walls just do a cho ku rei for each wall).
Q:If I do the Reiki symbols on my hands in the morning does that give out Reiki energy? For instance is that how I can do Reiki on my food or how do I do Reiki on my food?
To bring Reiki in, always start with the prayer of appreciation first, then you can draw the symbols on your hands so that everything you touch will be receiving Reiki plus this will help you practice the symbols as much as you can. (Yes, you will be giving out Reiki) In my case for example, if i have started with the prayer of appreciation in the morning and continue the day with a state of mind filled with gratitude and appreciation for everything I encounter and let's say I am in a restaurant, I don't do the prayer again. I go ahead by placing the symbols on my food. If i know that I haven't been very good at keeping a state of contentment then I silently pray in mi mind. It is ok to be reserved in public places if that makes you feel better so you can imagine the symbols in your mind eye and project them into the food. When you practice the symbols lots you will be able to see them in your mind's eye just as you can think of the letter A, or a heart, or the money symbol. Doing the prayer of appreciation several times throughout the day simply help you to come back to the state of mind that matches source as you want to offer Reiki to different things.
Q:If I go back in time to do a Reiki session to the food I previously ate, do I just visualize the food while doing Reiki on myself?
When going back to bless your food, you can visualize the time you ate, the food and yourself at that moment.
Q:What is the reason that for a diabetic person the strokes should be given differently in the distance healing long form?
The reason for the strokes is to remove any excessive energy from the body. Diabetic patients have low energy so for them instead of removing excessive energy; we spread it evenly in the body.
Q:How do the Distance Reiki Sharing work?
I want to share with you what I do every full moon during my Distance Reiki Sharing so that you have an idea on how to pursue yours if you decide to join me at the same time.
Throughout the day, I check magazines to see if there are any new things/experiences that I will like to add to my Reiki box and also I pick the crystals that I want to charge during the night with the full moon.
I keep seeds from last crops stored in individual bags in a container that I leave in my Reiki room for continuous Reiki. During Distant Reiki Sharing I deliver Reiki to them as well as my garden and Red Wigglers. For my red wigglers, I send Distance Reiki as I don't want to bring them in my Reiki room to avoid any kind of dirt on my carpet. They are to be outside, it is just practical :)
15 minutes prior to 7 p.m. I add a comment under the Distance Reiki Sharing event on top of my FB page letting everyone know that the Reiki Sharing will start shortly. Then I write/print all the names who liked the event in a piece of paper and on the back of this paper I add the date and the title of the Distance Reiki Sharing.
I go to my Reiki room, light some candles use my favorite essential oil and play a beautiful melody. After my prayer of appreciation I treat myself with 75min full body treatment as I think of each of you, my red wigglers, my garden beds and the plants by my kitchen window. I use the three (bridge, mental, power) symbols at the beginning of the session and follow up with each point by using only the mental and power symbol. (If you still on your 21 day practice you can use the three symbols at each point. Chant them too!!)
Around 8:15 p.m. I check on the pictures that I have collected from magazines and after visualizing each of them for few seconds I hold them all in my hand and 'write' the Reiki Symbols on top of them. I also use small squares of paper and write present tense affirmations about the things/experiences I am manifesting in my life and write the date on the back. I add this pictures and affirmations to the Reiki Box and offer Reiki to my Reiki Box for around 15-20 minutes. (You can use here the 24 hour distance Reiki form if you want to let the Reiki energy flow all night)
Around 8:35 p.m. I take the container where I keep my seeds and offer Reiki to it for around 15min.
Around 8:50 p.m. I place my chosen crystals on the window and write the three symbols (bridge, mental, power) on top of them. I then give thanks to source for this Distance Reiki Sharing and blow out the candles and the session is ended.
Note: In the Distance Reiki Sharing event on FB I suggest this sharing to be only an hour long as I know that you can put in practice the different ways to send distance Reiki. I still do two hours because I just love doing it.
Q:During my self reiki since level 2, I have noticed that if I do the self reiki during the day I fall asleep. If I do it at night I get a second wind and cant fall asleep for hours, 2, 3 in the morning. Is this normal?
The first thing that comes to mind when reading your e-mail is that spirit guides are looking forward communicating with you and the tune-in is easier at a time when there is less distractions. So, if you don't meditate during the day as you deliver Reiki to you at night you will be releasing stress and opening up communication path with your guides which may interfere with sleep time. My advice here is that you find a time to meditate so that your guides may be able to reach you. You can ask them to let you know with some kind of sign or a message in dreams about the time that they prefer to connect. It is quite possible that they look forward a time that do not coincide with daily social time. I got used to have a journal and pen by my bed since many times I am awaken at 3 a.m. I am lucky that my partner understands my path and doesn't get annoyed by it; still, I got a small lamp that I hang on top of my journal so that the light cover only the page I need to see. It is great as I don't have to disturb my partner. There are pens with a light insert so that you can see as you write. When you connect with your guides, ideas will flow in regards to a project or solutions to a problem will come clear. They are here to make your path so much easier, you don't need the struggle in life when you listen to them.
Q:How can I incorporate angel healing with Reiki?
I have many students who incorporate Reiki with their angelic practice and I mean they have taken Angel Healing Training as well as Reiki to counsel those who are in touch with angels. I love angels too and in each of my Reiki sessions I welcome Archangel Michael, Raphael and Gabriel. Archangel Michael brings a feeling of safety for me and my client. Archangel Michael is a warrior at the door of my room letting only those spirits guides that are meant to be in the session pass through. I feel Archangel Michael's presence usually on my back telling me 'I keep you safe' Archangel Raphael guides me through the places in the body, spirit, mind that need healing he usually manifest his presence through a soft tingling sensation from the front of my forehead all the way down to the point of my nose.
Archangel Gabriel communicates through me the messages that my client is meant to receive. Archangel Gabriel usually manifests before the client arrives to my home, even the night before as I go to sleep, he brings me all sort of thoughts of images about my client. He let me know his presence with a soft tingling sensation across my cheeks and my teeth vibrate a little as well.
How did I learn to recognize them? Well, I learned meditation then Reiki and through Reiki I start perceiving the angels. I learned about them through my studies of the bible early in my childhood and my own research. I am also very thankful with Doreen Virtue who lovely offers so much info about the angels through her work with books, cards and videos. Through her I felt compelled to get some angel’s cards which I use in a weekly basis. I got like 6 decks. I don't use them with clients since I have not really done a course in card readings but I use them for my personal questions and the answers are very lovely and yet full with great advice. One day I sit in meditation and asked the angels to let me know who was who so I start with Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. As soon as I thought of each of their names, I noticed the different vibration according to their name and that's how I recognize them. They are always in my Reiki session :)
A student of mine who offers angel therapy was very kind to send me this lovely article written by, Reiki Master Haripriya Suraj. She explains here her work with Reiki and angels and I felt identified with her way of healing so I will like to share it with you. This article will give you some insight on ways to combine your angel work with Reiki.

Q: I haven't done any distance Reiki yet should I practice it before the level 3 class?
If you have a pet you can try distance healing with them or with a plant too. If you have a friend that will be willing to receive Reiki, practice with them. Just make sure they agree with the time that you are sending Reiki and ask them to rest during that time and give you any feedback afterwards. You can also send distance Reiki to your projects like exams, or trips. Just follow he long or short form distance Reiki in your module and provide Reiki to yourself as you think of the recipient/project.
